We recently welcomed Alex Twigg to the Cape team as our Non-Executive Chair.

Alex is a pioneer of digital banking, with over 30 years of experience and an international reputation for his contribution to establishing 5 neo banks globally, Egg Bank in the UK, UBank, Judo Bank, Alex Bank in Australia, and Trust Bank in Singapore.

Alex see’s everything he’s done as a massive team effort, from colleagues to friends and family, and here’s  an overview of what those teams have achieved:

  • Took UBank, an independent brand operating under NAB's banking licence, from a PowerPoint deck to the 9th largest bank in Australia in just 6 years. It is now the benchmark for Australian retail neo banking.
  • Turned Judo Bank into a case study for technology innovation and the adoption of everything-as-a-service. Judo is focused on SME lending, and was the world's first fully licenced, cloud-based bank.
  • Helped steer neo bank, Alex Bank (the name is coincidental!), to its APRA restricted banking licence.
  • Guided Trust Bank to become the 1st recipient of a digital banking licence from Singapore regulators.
  • Shaped the Australian payments infrastructure as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Eftpos for four years.

An unusual mix of banker, technologist and entrepreneur, he has used that combination of skills to build teams and businesses fixated on employee culture and frictionless customer experience through technology, product, and process innovation.

Fintech Asia placed Alex among Asia’s 100 most influential Fintech leaders, and he was named in CIO Magazines' top 50 Australian CIOs.

Alex is passionate about all things no-code, digital transformation, everything-as-a-service, web and product development, fintech, neobanking, payments, and startups.

It’s safe to say… we’re absolutely stoked to have him on board for this journey!
